Tormore An Tòrr Mòr (the big hill)
Visited by Johnson and Boswell.
The farm was tenanted by a family of Macdonalds until the 1890s when it was let to shooting tenants. Eventually one of these, F.E. Loyd, decided to rent the farm as well. His daughter Evelyn took over the tenancy until her death in the 1960s.
In the 1960s, Lord Macdonald sold most of the farmland to the Forestry Commission, and much of the eastern side of the old farm is still under trees.
