"Preserving the history of the parish of Sleat on the Isle of Skye"
Carradale Caradail (copse or copse wood dale)
Although the census records several families living here, Carradale was not set out to crofts until 1850. There were 8 new crofts. The tenants came from Achnacloich, Aird, Sasaig and Point of Sleat as well as two families already living in Carradale. The township was cleared in 1879 - the reason, as given in evidence to the Napier Commission, that it was too far from any of the schools in the parish.
